Speak Right!

For the careers of most businesspeople, oral communication skills are as important as written communication skills. Knowing that you are pronouncing words correctly gives you confidence in conversation and in business presentations.

This study module focuses on words often mispronounced in business contexts. When you enter the Speak Right! study module, click on a word in the left pane of the page that appears. The main content area will update with a usage example, and both the correct and incorrect pronunciations for the word chosen.

Click on the buttons with the phonetic spellings of the chosen word to hear Dr. Guffey's pronunciation of the words.

You may choose from two sets of words. To toggle back and forth between sets of words, alternately click the "More Words" and "Previous Words" buttons in the left window pane.
